Liz is a nature-loving, hug-giving artist with a BFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She draws inspiration from the flowing quality of water, the dynamic movements of the body, and the playful, yet intentional, brush strokes in Japanese calligraphy. She combines this expressive line with the rich colors of life to evoke compassion and draw viewers into the height of the moment in each piece. Her digital work depicts characters whose portrayal ranges from subtle, intimate expressions to dramatic actions caught in motion, while her ink and watercolor pieces create the vibrant and playful illustrations seen in her children's books.
In addition to being a visual artist, Liz is a Certified Practitioner of Zen Shiatsu massage (AOBTA CP). She has completed training as a Craniosacral Therapist and a Reiki Master Teacher. Liz is a trained facilitator of process-oriented art making workshops at Open Studio Project. She is also a teacher and director at Piven Theatre Workshop. As a side passion she teaches social ballroom and partner dancing via private lessons. You may find her cutting the rug at street fairs, art festivals, and other fun places. Liz hopes to combine the beauty of each artistic modality to create an organic form of self expression, healing, growth, and love- and then spread it to the world!
Through my art I hope to heighten awareness of the inherent beauty in every being and honor the unique way all individuals express their light. I have always had a wide range of interests including music, dance, the healing arts, theater, and writing. My eclectic nature has helped me to see the interconnectedness of the world and has definitely informed my art. I also draw inspiration from nature. The natural world is never static. The same is true for one’s art. Over the years I have come to view art as a spiritual practice as well as an opportunity for meditation, expression, healing, and self growth. My desire is to help people see the beauty that exists within and around them.
